Stevie shirt, a test for Madeit Patterns

Have you heard of Madeit Patterns? I first spotted Anna's patterns  on facebook and she was featured on Pattern Revolution as an aspiring designer. I made her Ziggy top two times already (here and here) in the last month and I can promise you  it's not the last you've seen of that pattern around here! So when Anna asked if I would like to test her new pattern I jumped right in. The Stevie shirt is a unisex shirt designed for kids, sizes 2-10 years, it's collarless and buttons down halfway.

I made a size 3 for little rascal and did some fabric recycling. My mother's local curtain shop calls her once every few months to collect their old curtain samples. So last week my hallway was packed with old curtains. Among them I found this fun black and white dotted fabric. It's maybe a bit too sturdy, so I probably use a less heavy, more flowy fabric for this shirt next time. But it still worked out great! Unfortunately I'm just a bit too late to enter the project run & play link up for week 2. This week was all about recycling. I think my curtain would have fitted perfectly!

Now, about the pdf pattern. The instructions Anna made are easy to follow with clear pictures. The finish is very neat and I love the fact she taught me something new. I've never sewn a gauntlet cuff before. It looked a bit intimidating but turned out to be easy, just follow the steps and you can't go wrong! Are you looking for a nice shirt pattern, suitable for both boys and girls? Then keep an eye out for the release of the Stevie shirt!

  1. Leuk, met die stippen! En dat je dat uit een gordijn-staal hebt kunnen halen, goed bezig!
