I wanted to capture Willy Wonka's colourscheme, the purple, yellow and green in a sweater. I used (dare I say it? Yes!) the Rowan tee by Titchy Threads in a size 4 with a hood, shoulder stripes and armcuffs.
I dyed some sweatshirt fabric purple, used a knit for lining the hood and added yellow piping to the hood stripe. The cuffs are recycled and came from one of my own sweaters. The shoulder stripes are cut out of some old pants, a woven with some weird plastic coating, but used this way it almost looks like leather. I like it!
The golden ticket in the story inspired me to make a tulle skirt for rascals best friend. I soon realised sewing tulle is far from easy and decided to go with the non-sewing method, tying the tulle to an elastic waistband. The result is a puffy skirt, not really useable for everyday wear, but fun for dressing up.
This weekend we're spending some fun time together in a holiday cottage and I got to take some pictures of Willy Wonka and the golden ticket together.
Oh wauw, superleuk en origineel!
ReplyDeleteLove this version of the Rowan tee. Amazing color and the contrasting details are brilliant.
ReplyDeleteThe hoodie looks so good, I love the pop on the hood from the piping and the other subtle contrasts. I'm so happy to hear it works sizing up with sweatshirt fabric.
ReplyDeleteI've never sewn with tulle either and I think the skirt is adorable.
Another great rowan!!! <3 and that tutu is too cute. I have made a few but never one for my daughter... guess it's about time I do one, right?!
