February mystery challenge

Hi everyone, enjoying your weekend? I sure am, besides attending a great concert last night I'm part of the February mystery challenge today. A fun blogtour where all the participating bloggers received a different theme to sew up. My theme is Broadway, chosen by Melissa from Rebel & Malice.
I decided to pick one of the longest running shows, the Phantom of the Opera, as inspiration. Have any of you actually seen it in a theater? Well browsing through pictures of the show you can't get past the black and white as the main outfit colours, so I ran with that. I made an outfit for my big rascal that would still be suitable for everyday wear instead of a full costume.

An old pair of jeans from my upcycling stash got turned into a small fry skinny (pattern by Titchy Threads) with some adjustments. I made him a size 2 width combined with a size 4 in length so they would fit perfectly (Laura  has a spot on measurement table in all her patterns and suggestions how to adjust the sizes).

The waistband on the original pair of jeans was too small to upcycle, so I attached a black ribbed knit waistband instead. Because of the knit waistband I couldn't make a half fly, so I skipped that and did a faux fly. The rascal really likes the knit waistband, easy and quick to put on, perfect for schooldays with gym class.

The shirt is upcycled from one of Mr. Rascal's button up shirts. I kept the existing neckline and collar and also recycled the sleeves.

“If I am the phantom, it is because man's hatred has made me so. If I am to be saved it is because your love redeems me.” (yes I googled a quote ;) )
