I ended up making two test trousers size 2 in the proces while Laura was finetuning the fit. Since I love them both this post will be a little heavy on the pictures, you're warned. The blue pair was the first testing round and the green pair the second. You can see that the final green pair is a bit slimmer and the backpockets better proportioned.
The trousers I made are reversible (the pattern does provide for a non reversible finish as well) and I really love that full lining, it makes the pants so comfy to wear. Plus it feels a bit like magic when you get to that step in the instructions that you turn the pants right side out and everything is in its place.
The pattern also provides options for front and backpockets, piping and a drawstring. The piping and drawstring are the perfect items to make the trousers "pop" by using a fun contrasting colour. Using piping also makes the twisted seams stand out more. The side seams of the pants twist to the front and the inseams twist to the back.
I used a linen/cotton mix as main fabric (two upcycled pants from my stash). The lining is a white flannel for the blue pants and an orange lining fabric (really slippery) for the green one.
As in all the Titchy Threads patterns, the steps are well explained with lots of pictures. The instructions also come with a cheat sheet for the more advanced levels and a good measurements table and tips for adjusting sizes, so you can make your kids the exact size they need. Oh and let's not forget the possibility of printing just the size layer you need, love that! The pattern is released today and available here in the Titchy Threads shop. When you buy the twisted trousers you can get the twisted tanktop for half off. There's also a 25% discount on all the patterns for those of you who sign up for the Titchy Threads Newsletter. This discount runs till March 11th.
My third pair is already on the cutting table, so stay tuned for more twisted trouser goodness!
I wish this was in infant size as well
ReplyDeleteI do have a separate size grouping for infant and toddler sizes planned :)
DeleteYou always pick the best fabric combitions. I love the little pops of colour on both of these and the star drawstring is fantastic. Thanks for all the help with testing.
ReplyDeleteSuper Cool!
ReplyDeleteI just love your version. As always.
