The Tortola top by Sisboom Patterns, a wearable muslin.

Maybe you recall the great sewing giveaway Naptime Creations initiated together with a group of bloggers and great sponsors? Guess what, I was the lucky winner!! So I had a serious shopping spree over at all the fantastic sponsors (thanks Imagine Gnats, The Fabric Fairy, Peek a Boo patterns, Sisboom Patterns and Whimsical Fabric) and I now have a ton of new patterns (mostly for me) and some great fabric to work with.

I started sewing my new pattern stash with the Tortola top by Sisboom patterns, a woven top with simple clean lines, perfect for summer. But first I loaded up at Ikea on black Ditta fabric so I can make myself some muslins. Making muslins is something I never do when sewing for the rascals, they can wear anything and it always fits great. But I would really regret it if I would waste a lot of good fabric on a piece of clothing that doesn't fit.

I made the Tortola top in a size M and a 25" finished garment length. The sewing went smooth and I love the neat finish but I think I need to size down in width and make it a little longer. Nonetheless it's great and I've already worn it a couple of times.

I guess children's clothing just remains my first love for now. And what's your favourite?
