Today I'm taking you to Wonderland with the Alice in Wonderland Blogtour, a fun idea Sara from Made by Sara came up with. I always love a good challenge so I'm glad to participate! And at the end of the post there's something in it for you too, there are two fantastic prizes to win!

I really wanted to make an every day outfit rather than doing a full costume and I looked at all the characters and their outfits in films and old illustrations. I decided on the White Rabbit as my source of inspiration with the blue and white colours and the old illustrations with the checked waistcoat.

Morocco pants

The colours and some checked fabric are all incorporated in one piece of clothing, the Morocco pants (in my case shorts), a pattern by petit a petit and family. I've been waiting for that pattern to come out ever since I saw them in the blogpost Celina did here.

This pattern with all it's options is just amazing and the fit is excellent! I made a size 4 with the length of a 6 for my slim 5 year old and it turned out perfect.

Anna Ka fabrics

There, can you see the checked fabric in the pockets and waistband? I got the fabrics for these shorts at Anna Ka Bazaar during our #parissewsocial weekend with the gift certificate kindly sponsored by Bernina. I had a hard time picking fabric at Anna Ka's. There was just so much gorgeous fabric and I really didn't know what I would be making and how much I needed. Luckely I spotted a basket in the corner with little rolls of fabric and this blue palm fabric was just screaming pick me pick me. Perfect boys shorts material! Somehow I instantly loved the bold combination with the black and white checks so I got that one as well (and I was not the only one, maybe you will see this fabric pop up over at Olu's or Nina's someday).

Safari Raglan

On top is a Safari Raglan (pattern by Titchy Threads) in the most basic version with white and blue jersey. I did try something new though, this is the first time I did my hemming with a serger and I really like it. I probably will do that more often from now on.
