Okay bad management from my side, I know. So I put him in a pair of joggers and hopped behind my machine with a pattern I suspected should be a fast sew: the Hosh Pants by LouBeeClothing. LouBeeClothing was one of our #parissewsocial sponsors.
And fast it was! The cutting and sewing took me less than an hour. Yay, I love a nice in between project. I made a size 3 with a 4 in length and they fit great. I really like the slimfit look. The fabric is a stretch denim I dyed for this Ole jacket a while back.
The tutorial is clearly written, only the sewing of the waistband got me confused for a second. The pants have an adjustable waist and I'm used to sew buttonholes in the waistband lining for the elastic. The method used here was different but with a nice endresult. In retrospect I could have skipped this entire step because I decided to do a drawstring instead of adjustable elastic.
So there we are, one hour later and the boy is wearing pants again. They're quick and comfy, like!
* I received this pattern as a gift from our Paris Sew Social sponsors. However all opinions are as always honest and my own.
I love these. Fantastic color and the Hosh Pants are a really nice pattern...
ReplyDeleteIt sure is a nice pattern Annika, I love Olu's description of a blank canvas...
DeleteI need to revisit this pattern. I have made Hosh pants before but used the wrong fabric. Now I know a lot more about fabric (and sewing) my next pair will be a lot better. Check out my rubbish ones here... https://needleandted.wordpress.com/2014/04/09/a-hash-of-the-hosh/
ReplyDeleteJust read your blogpost, isn't it annoying when things aren't working out as planned. But do try this again, I'm sure you would make an amazing pair now! oh and lol over your needlessly complicated waistband comment :)
DeleteThe color is fantastic and the trousers are very cool!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I'm really happy with the colour as well. You're never 100% sure of the outcome when dyeing fabric.
DeleteI'm amazed those are stretch denim! They look so comfy! LOVE the color and LOVE the drawstring!
ReplyDeleteThanks Karly, my little rascal sure was enthousiastic, although it's denim he still considered them "soft pants" he's in the I-just-want-to-wear-soft-comfy- pants fase ;)
DeleteYou are absolutely right, this is a quick but satisfying project! I love the hosh pants pattern, and I love this denim version of yours!
ReplyDeleteThanks! It sure is a nice pattern, I'm already thinking of other options to add, like pockets :)
DeleteBinnen het uur, fantastisch gewoon!
