The pattern provides in two different necklines, the simple V shape and a neckline with a placket and snaps. You can add a pocket and make it short or long sleeved. As in all Anne's patterns you can just print the sizes you need and this time she even added a measurements table to the pattern pieces.
I added a little twist to the pattern and instead of the V neck I made the pattern hooded. It was an easy moderation, there was no need to redraw the neckline and I made sure the hoodparts would overlap by approximately a centimeter in front. To keep the idea of the V the hood edges are finished with a contrasting jersey biastape.
The tutorial advises to use a jersey knit but I choose on a sweater version (all fabrics came from my favourite online jersey shop Joyfits) and went up one size in width. Sizing up when using thicker fabric is a must, the shirt is designed to be well fitted, a look I really like for my boys!
