Since our house is lacking a fireplace that's something I had to fix. I made one out of a big box and stamped bricks on it with a sponge and paint. Added a little paper bunting cut out of magazines, some wood and candles and we're set.
For the Sinterklaas parade I made little rascal a new hat, just like Piet wears. He has outgrown the one from last year. Just cut a large circle (this one is a 45cm diameter), hem it and add elastic and a feather.
Wat een goed idee, zo'n open haard van karton! En dankjewel voor de beschrijving van de pietenmuts. Die komt nog van pas!!!
ReplyDeleteI've been feeling like making a faux fireplace too for the last few days, I keep indecided and it's the 3rd alreay (I wanted one to hang an advent calendar to it).
ReplyDeleteYou should definitely make one Magda! My kids love it and it was a fun and fast project.
ReplyDeleteThe 5th is Sinterklaas in the Netherlands, after that I'll turn it into a Christmas fireplace with stockings.
I know about your tradition, I think it is so cool. One of my best friends is Dutch, she lives in Tiel and when we were younger she would send me a lot of traditional stuff from your country... I can't forget this letter shapped chocolate which I loved so much!!!
DeleteChocolate letters are the best! :)
