Astronaut birthday party, 5 game ideas

Peace and quiet has returned around here, we survived our first real kids party. Big rascal had his birthday theme already figured out a year ago, it had to be a space theme. For his birthday outfit I made him the astronaut sweater I blogged earlier this week. The birthday treats for school were also space orientated, little UFO's with egg cake I found on pinterest. So today I'll share our party games with you. You never know when you're in need of space themed party games, right?

At lift off all the astronauts in training got a card with the missions they had to fullfill. Kids love a checklist and they were very eager to get the different games checked off.

A fun game, but losing can still be difficult for 4 and 5 year olds, so there were some tears playing this game. Luckily it was easily solved with the promise that they were allowed to stop the music next.

Next stop a traditional Dutch game: "koekhappen", literally translated, bite the cake. Little stars of gingerbread on a rope and all the kids in a line, hands on their backs trying to bite the gingerbread off the rope.

After these two games all the kids needed a moment of "downtime". I made a gigantic colouring page covering our  kitchentable. Throw in some markers and they were busy for quite some time.

Because you can't have a space party without launching a rocket we ended the games with balloon rockets.

So that's a wrap to our party, the kids had a blast!

  1. Sounds like a great party! We also have the parties of our kids at home, fun but tiring ;)

  2. So, so cool. Btw. "Who takes the chair" is called "Reise nach Jerusalem" (Trip to Jerusalem) in German ;)
And I so want a space party for my next birthday, now. That's ok, right?

  3. How adorable astronaut birthday party! All the party arrangements are fabulous. Thanks for the ideas. I also need to host my daughter’s frozen themed birthday party at Los Angeles event space. I wonder if you have such simple frozen party ideas.
