At lift off all the astronauts in training got a card with the missions they had to fullfill. Kids love a checklist and they were very eager to get the different games checked off.
Our party games started with a round of Who'll take the chair? Of course we replaced the chairs with planets (placemats from ikea). A fun game, but losing can still be difficult for 4 and 5 year olds, so there were some tears playing this game. Luckily it was easily solved with the promise that they were allowed to stop the music next.
Next stop a traditional Dutch game: "koekhappen", literally translated, bite the cake. Little stars of gingerbread on a rope and all the kids in a line, hands on their backs trying to bite the gingerbread off the rope.
After these two games all the kids needed a moment of "downtime". I made a gigantic colouring page covering our kitchentable. Throw in some markers and they were busy for quite some time.
Meanwhile Mr. Rascal was hiding glow in the dark stars and little planet earth bouncing balls in our playground and we had an egg hunt we named seek the Milky Way.
So that's a wrap to our party, the kids had a blast!
